The assessor will need to measure the property so they can draw a basic floor plan. This is to determine the volume that will be heated internally.

They will also need access to check details of the following:

  • Age and build type of the property
  • Gas and Electric meters
  • Loft - to see what insulation is installed
  • Heating system ( boiler, storage heaters etc. )
  • Heating Controls ( Thermostat, programmer etc. )
  • Hot water tank
  • Lighting types
  • Bath and Shower types

All this data is entered into a system that will then calculate the energy used to heat and light the property.

The same system will then generate an A to G rating and a list of recommendations that could improve the efficiency of the building.
